Our History

Citiworks, Corp. was founded as City Coal Co., in Pawtucket, RI in 1876. Over the years, the company evolved into a contracting business dealing primarily in exterior fence and iron work.

Several specialty construction items have been added to the product mix over the years to ensure year-round production. In the 1960s, Citiworks, Corp. purchased Whatcheer Wire of Providence, RI to expand the woven wire products business. Looking to gain additional market share in the Boston area, in the 1980s, we acquired Dinn Fence and Highland Wire Works of Dorchester, MA. Then in the early 1990s Citiworks, Corp. purchased the assets of Compton Partitions of Franklin, MA to add to our expanding toilet partition and accessory market.

The most prominent products added to our mix has been electronic gate operators and access control equipment which were added in the 1980s. These have enabled us to offer complete perimeter security systems including fencing and automated gates. Citiworks, Corp. also now provides a service department for our customers to properly maintain the products we install.
